To simplify the migration process, the Veeva Basics Migration Team identified a focused set of key fields and objects for each product and created streamlined templates and overview videos. This 6-step process outlines data migration into Veeva, balancing customer and Veeva responsibilities:

1) Data Scoping
Veeva
- Provides templates you can download from the Migration Center and staging area to upload document files.
Customer
- Identifies, inventories, cleans, and prepares all necessary data and files (from legacy systems or new) by completing Migration Templates and staging on file staging area.
2) Loader Review & Iterate
Customer
- Provides completed migration templates.
Veeva
- Veeva verifies correctness of data in migration templates.
Customer
- If data in template needs to be updated/corrected, customer is provided feedback and is required to make the correction.
3) Sandbox Load
Veeva
- Transforms completed Migration Templates into loader sheets.
- Loads data into Sandbox.
Customer
If needed, create reference data required for migration directly in the Sandbox (this will need to be performed in production).
Note In this case, Veeva will share the loader sheets used to load the data.
4) Sandbox Review & Iterate
Customer
- Reviews data loaded in Sandbox and makes any necessary additions/update to the Loader Template if required.
5) Production Load Preparation
Customer
Once satisfied with the Sandbox data:
Gives formal approval.
Schedules the Production load with Veeva (within 7 business days).
Prepares migration documentation.
6) Production Load
Veeva
- Performs the data load into the live Production environment on the scheduled date and provides inventory of load.
Customer
- Verifies the loaded data.
- Creates some records manually (if needed).
- Finalizes/approves their migration documentation, using a final inventory list from Veeva.
